The People Behind The Rides
My name is Jason. I am a father, a skater, a teacher, and a community builder.
Skating has always been a big part of my life, but for a long time I did not have people around me who shared that same passion. In the early spring of 2021, I set out to change that by bringing together the island's skaters and building something bigger than myself.
What started as a simple effort to connect the island's skaters, has grown into something much more. With the help of an incredible community and an army of volunteers, Rolling Tribes has become a recognized non-profit and a staple of the Montreal skate scene. Through hundreds of rides and countless events, we have created a space that brings together skaters of all styles, both locally and beyond, while also contributing to the global skate culture online and in real life.
From the beginning, all of our events have been free. Inclusion means a lot of things, and while most communities have made real progress on gender, race, and identity, economic inclusion is a conversation that does not happen nearly enough. That is something Rolling Tribes takes seriously.
At its core, Rolling Tribes is about connecting skaters and creating meaningful moments on wheels.
I'm Matt ! Started skating a few years back, quickly fell in love with slalom. Still trying to improve my technique and diversify my freestyle :). I also dab in as many disciplines as I can.
Skating only makes sense if you're part of a community. Rolling Tribes is what makes skating meaningful for me. I'm volunteering because I want others to feel the same.
Hi, it's Seb, non-assiduous skater since very young, it's during COVID that I put my skates back on to join Rolling Tribes!
Skating in a group to discover Montreal allows me to develop my sociability, I love learning new tricks as much as teaching them, and the sensation of freedom that my skates provide me is incomparable ♥
To the pleasure of skating together!
Heyloo!
I'm Serira | Speed Demon | Zeke | Death wish | She/They, Urban Skater :)
I started skating when I was a kid, broke a few bones and family banned me from skating :) got back on wheels in spring of 2021, joined Rolling Tribes the same summer, and have been loving the fam ever since.
Skating means freedom to me. It is the closest I have ever felt to flying - bombing hills and playing slalom with cars is when I get to open my wings and soar. I live for its thrill like a true adrenaline junkie - until I fall, only to remind myself: speed isn't everything. Gotta practice technique too :D
Rolling Tribes is... family. I moved to Canada in 2019, but I started calling Montreal home after 2021. This community- these people are my family. I belong, I feel at home, and when I can, I fight for their growth.
I've been volunteering with RT as of 2022. I started as social media manager and slowly took on more tasks until Jan 2025 when I co-founded the non-profit with federal and provincial governments. The following summer I had the honour of being voted the next director, where I established our grant program through a partnership with JumpStart. This made possible for us to offer kids classes and indoor skating (both free) for the cold season.
Nowadays I'm sending love from afar and taking a step back from the directorship role. Still I continue being a loving participant, rooting for the community's growth. Stay awesome my fellow skaters. Y'all rock. ❤️
I'm Denis, and I've been on wheels for over 40 years, inline and quad both. Dance, urban, distance. I've done it all and I'm still learning something new every season. I joined Rolling Tribes almost four years ago as a volunteer at first, then a board member, and I haven't looked back since. Whether I'm leading the bike escort for Light Up The 514, helping a first-timer find their footing, or making sure the last skater gets home safe at the end of the night, this is where I belong. The community is everything. I show up because that's what you do when you love something and the people in it.
Hi, I'm Warren - in some particular order, I am: a parent, an artist and jeweller, both a geek and a nerd, a product manager at a big software company you might have heard of, and a mediocre roller blader. I grew up in Northern Saskatchewan, went to university in Ontario, and have been living in Montreal for over 20 years (and still have terrible French).
I got into roller blading with the Rolling Tribes in Spring 2024, and have slowly but steadily been improving since then. You'll often see me at rides on my e-bike --- and if you ever need a break, or need help up or down a hill feel free to let me know!!
Hi!
I started skating in 2022 when I was 14, mostly just doing circles at the park. In 2024, I joined Rolling Tribes and got to try urban skating for the first time on the rides, and now I have even led a couple rides myself.
In 2025, I discovered slalom at Magic Mondays and quickly fell in love with it. I spent more and more time practicing, and now it’s what I look forward to most.
I also helped to organize the kids' classes and am one of the two instructors. I love talking about skating and helping others learn new skills. You can recognize me by my huge rainbow kneepads, sparkly helmet, and my rainbow light up cape on the Friday night rides.
Hi, I’m Karen, a Mexican skater living in Montreal. I’ve been skating for 7 years, and skating has become a very important part of my life. I’ve traveled to many places with my skates; I love having fun, creating routes, and discovering new experiences on wheels.
I especially enjoy freestyle slalom, where I combine technique, creativity, and flow, but I also like doing downhills, exploring the streets of Montreal, discovering new spots, and experiencing the city through my skates.
Although I’m a bit shy (yes, still 😹), everything changes when I skate: I smile, connect with myself, and with the people around me. I truly believe skating is a tool for self-expression, building confidence, and creating community.
I'm a French and I don't know what to say about me ahah I love drawing and skating
Hi,
I'm Bernard, from Paris and skater since way before the Y2K bug!
I started skating on quads with custom made converse shoe and Krypto Impulse wheels ! My brake was just a screw so that I could make sparks.
Skating outdoors and on the streets is my thing !
Too old for social media so meet me outside on the street.
Roule ma poule !
Hi, I'm Saúl, a Mexican skater based in Montreal. I've been skating for over 15 years, riding urban routes, high speeds, downhill and pavement slides.
Skating became my way to feel free and reconnect with myself. Every time I roll, I'm following the earth's rotation or trying to escape it.
Holi ! Soy 𝑲𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒚 ~ 𝑫𝒂𝒏 😺...

2 years of skating experience, but it was my dream since I was a kid... Now, in my 40s I'm making this dream come true! And skating became a real passion for me.
In 2024 I started with Quads & Roller Dance, but I still wanted to feel the sensation of skating through the city and discovering new places... so, in the summer of 2025 I started with Inlines & Urban... and it was so amazing!
I traveled to different cities and I visited all of them in my skates, feeling the air, the street vibes, the nature around me and the freedom, but most important ... the strength & power that I didn't know I had, because, try something new is always difficult, but try skating in my age.... OMG! it's so scary!
But I did it ! 💪
And I'm improving every day because I'm a very determined, persistent & passionate girl and I love the adventures and challenges in my life, so, I don't hesitate to try new things and push myself to get success in everything I do.
When I arrived in Montreal I was very lonely... Find Rolling Tribes and becoming part of their community has been a great learning experience for me, they are my Skating Family now, where we can share, have fun, make friends and create special connections. They have been a great support and help in my life and I'm mega happy to be a member of this amazing crew !
I'm very open to help in everything the community needs and don't be shy to ask me anything.
Hi I’m Rolling Rex, some of you may have spotted me deep in the Hochelaga Valley or at the local roller disco.
I’m a 65-million-year-old skating geez with tiny arms and big vibes.
Kids fear me at first, but after a few tricks (and a spectacular wipeout), they’re all smiles.
I can’t technically lend a hand 🤚, but I will cheer you on, motivate the crew, moonwalk at the roller disco, and lead the pack at the light-up.
If I accidentally smack you with my tail, don’t worry, that’s just dino love! 🦖🛼
See you later folks !
Hi, I’m Xavier.
I started skating very young; ice hockey, street hockey, then fell hard for aggressive inline. Most of my time was spent at skateparks and street spots with friends, chasing new tricks and collecting a respectable amount of bruises.
For me, skating is about self-development and community. We raise by lifting each other. Everything I learned came from friends and the people skating around me. Now I’m giving it back by helping beginners stand up without kissing the pavement and guiding skaters through fun aggressive moves. I’m always happy to lead rides and keep the group rolling and safe.
Recently fell in love with quad skates and I now push urban skating on old-school quads. It’s wild, fun, and slightly unhinged.
Also… have you seen “Rolling Rex”? Rumor says a T-Rex on skates was spotted in Montreal. Wild stuff!
PS: I’m an artist too. Did some cool art for Rolling Tribe, check out my Instagram page !

Hi! I'm better known as Kiki. I joined RT in 2024 and never felt such warmth from any other group.
I've always loved skating and started figure skating classes as a kid & roller for fun but took a hiatus as a teen for being called dorky or whatever. But now I have a group that keeps me motivated!
I want to explore quad dancing next ^u^
Hi, I'm Ludo! I've been passionate about skating for over ten years. I love helping out and I'm full of life.
